The Rocky Mountain Wakesurfing Association is pleased to present the 3rd Annual Koocanusa Wakesurfing Challenge. Schedule and information below subject to change.

photo_britWelcome to the Koocanusa Wakesurfing Challenge! Here are a few things you’ll need to know about the weekend.

Instead of having practice runs on the first day of the event, the committee has decided to let each rider do one pass of the course as a practice run just BEFORE his/her performance. This will allow riders to adjust their speed, trim, etc. You may keep the rope for this pass (if desired) as falling is not permitted and the practice run is not for tricks, it is just to allow you to get used to the wave.

This means that Friday is NOT only for practice runs but is also the first day of competition. Riders are required to attend the riders’ meeting on Friday morning, in order to get more details about rules and scoring, just before the beginning of the competition.

The Competition will take place over 3 days! Please note this schedule is subject to change so check back for the latest updates.

Weekend Schedule:

Friday, August 21st

Friday 9:30 am:

For those wishing to watch this competition as spectators, you may do so by driving to Gold Bay and watching from the shoreline. Carpooling is recommended as parking is very limited at Sunshine Houseboats.

Keep in mind you should bring whatever you need with you (i.e. towels, blankets, folding chairs, binoculars etc.) as there won’t be any chairs onsite. There is a small store at Sunshine Houseboats where you can purchase beverages, burgers, snacks etc. but you may wish to bring some of these with you too.

If you are travelling by boat to Gold Bay, you need to approach the course at the SLOWEST speed possible. You will position your boat so that it is floating BEHIND the course.
